After hearing some wonderful birth stories on our local Facebook Mama's Support Network, I decided to start a blog to share these stories with other people in our area and the rest of the world. My name is Rachael Heiner, and I live in Bellingham, Wa. Bellingham is a pretty 'crunchy' city for the most part, so we get to hear lots of stories of natural and home births, but that's not all you'll find here.
I believe that one of the most positive and empowering things a woman can do to prepare for her own labor is to read positive stories of other women's amazing experiences. I became somewhat of a "birth junkie" between my first child and my second, and still love reading the amazing stories available out there! I hope someday to be more involved in the world of birth - my dream would be to do labor and birth photography, but I need a lot of practice and learning before I could make a career of it!
